Like most regional promoters, Austin-based King of Kombat has taken more than their fair share of lumps in trying to carve a niche in the perilous world of professional fight promotions. While KOK has enjoyed some moderate success and critical acclaim, the promotion has yet to enjoy the level of notoriety of promotions like West Texas’ Shark Fights, or even Steele Cage here in North Texas.
Tonight, KOK may change the perception as the will put on a professional MMA show filled to the rafters with some of the best fighters Texas has to offer. It’s inarguably KOK’s most ambitious fight card to date while the headlining 170 lbs. title fight between Ryan Larson (6-1) and Derrick Krantz (10-3) has fireworks written all over it, it could be stated that the co-features and undercard all have the potential to steal the show.
In fact, North Texas will be well represented tonight as some of the DFW’s most exciting fighters will look to stake their claim as true badasses in the ATX. Fort Worth’s Johnny Bedford will be fighting for the KOK 135 pound title against Dallas’ Edwyn Figueroa in a co-featured match. Also, WEC fighters Will Copazano will be featured on the card. Other fighters reppin’ NTX will be Sean Spencer and Josh Smith, and Arlington’s Jennifer Scott.
