Amarillo-based Shark Fight Promotions have gone about things the right way. Rather than try to hit the gates running and become the next UFC, the have set about building their brand out in West Texas. It was a stroke of marketing genius as the region quickly embraced the small promotional company and with the fan support came bigger and more ambitious cards.
On September 11, Shark Fight Promotions will host their biggest fight card to date when Shark Fight 13 (SF13) takes place at the Amarillo Civic Center Coliseum in Amarillo, Texas. The card will feature a who’s who of former UFC title challengers and established MMA veterans.
Headlining this enormous fight card will be a showdown between former UFC light heavyweight challenger Keith “The Dean of Mean” Jardine and fellow ex-UFC fighter Trevor Prangley. While Prangley is the Shark Fight light heavyweight champion, the fight will be a non-title affair. If a Jardine-Prangley fight is not enticing enough, SF13 will also feature an exciting clash of former UFC heavyweights in Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou versus Houston Alexander.
Recently, Shark Fight Promotions announced that UFC pariah Paul “Semtex” Daley will also fight on the card. No opponent has yet been set.
SF13 looks to do gangbusters at the gate, and a card full of this many exciting fighters is sure to make a trip out to West Texas a must come Sept 11. Visit www.sharkfights.com for more information.
