Roberto Marroquin has gone Hollywood.
Well, not literally, but in some very interesting news, Oak Cliff’s very own undefeated prospect Robert Marroquin (14-0, 11 KOs) has been spending the week out in Hollywood, CA, getting in some spot work with renowned trainer Freddie Roach. Marroquin was out in La La Land doing press work to hype the Top Rank card taking place on July 17 in Mexico. Marroquin will be appearing on the undercard.
While Marroquin has been out is SoCal, he has been spending time at Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Gym to get in some work under the expert eye of one of the greatest trainers in the sport. According to first hand reports, Marroquin looked sharp in going six rounds on the pads with Roach yesterday afternoon. Marroquin will again get some mitt work in with Roach today, though; this workout will be witnessed by members of the media and the Top Rank’s Bob Arum and Bruce Trampler.
Marroquin’s popularity has been on a steady ascension since his breakout TKO performance over Sammy Sanchez on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao – Joshua Clottey fight that took place at Cowboys Stadium this past March.
