bogere_julioAmid the beauty of downtown Fort Worth at dusk, Golden Boy Promotions held what has quickly become one of North Texas’ most anticipated events in their seventh annual Fight Night at Sundance Square Friday night.  With the Texas heat taking a much appreciated respite, a large and vocal throng of boxing fans were treated to some high-octane bouts.

In the evening’s main event, highly touted Ugandan junior middleweight prospect Sharif Bogere (16-0, 10 KOs) put on a virtuoso performance in stopping a tough, but limited, banger in Columbia’s Ilidio Julio (40-18-1, 35 KOs).   Bogere unleashed an arsenal of pain and speed that left Julio resembling a stationary heavy bag.  After four rounds of one-sided punishment Julio’s corner throws in the towel, citing a shoulder injury.  The official time of the stoppage was 0:10 in round five.

trevino_ramirezIn a rematch of what is quickly becoming a very exciting rivalry, Eddie Ramirez (5-2-1, 2 KOs) notched another win against Arthur Trevino (5-5-3, 2 KOs) of Fort Worth.  While Ramirez was awarded a frist round TKO victory in their first encounter earlier this year, Friday night’s rematch was a closely contested slugfest that had all the ebb and flow of a classic slugfest.  Both fighters traded shots throughout the four round affair, while Trevino was the busier puncher, it was Ramirez’s harder shots that carried the night and bloodied the face of Trevino.  It was a great fight, one that will be remembered for years to come.  Scores were 40-36, 39-37, and 39-37 all in favor of Ramirez.
