Nearly ten years ago, as I was contemplating a move from the Midwest to Texas two particular things swayed my decision: the plethora of beautiful women here in the Lone Star State, and the culinary awesomeness that is Tex-Mex cuisine. Truth be told, I would have relocated simply for the women, but Tex-Mex is a nice bonus. In the hierarchy of local Tex-Mex, few restaurants can hold a candle to the goodness that is Matt’s Rancho Martinez in Lakewood (and Cedar Hill). I’ve never tried crack, but I assume that eating Matt’s chile rellenos produces the same euphoric rush. Yes, they are that damn fantastic.
Tonight, Matt’s will host more than great food as the Lakewood location will play host to a send-off party for local amateur standouts Christopher Jones and Anthony Mack. The two Dallas-based boxers were recently drafted in the global World Series of Boxing taking place next year. Both Mack and Jones will box under the Boston team banner.
So come on out. Get your eat and drink on, and toast these two awesome boxers as they embark on a journey that few of us could ever imagine. Texas Select Boxing Club will be providing free appetizers and a cash bar and music will surly put everyone in a great mood. Festivities will kick off at 5:30 PM and last until 9:30 PM.
Great food and great company? Hell, what more could you want?
