About North Texas Fisticuffs

Written by NTF Staff.

North Texas Fisticuffs (NTF) is a blog dedicated to chronicling the surging boxing and mixed martial arts scene taking place in the Dallas-Fort Worth, and Austin metropolises.  Designed with the fan’s perspective in mind, North Texas Fisticuffs has rapidly become a destination for fight fans in Texas to get their daily fix on the goings on in the Northern half of the state.

Though only a few months past our one-year anniversary, we here at North Texas Fisticuffs are proud to become the newest member to the ever growing Bloguin network of blogs.  We love our new digs, and hope you do to.  We want to hear from you, the fans, so please leave comments or contact us with your thoughts, and opinions.  Just remember, we reserve the right to remove all offensive comments and commentators from the site.  So let’s keep it clean, and play nice.

The North Texas Fisticuffs Team

Sean A. Malone – A veteran fight writer of almost four years, Sean’s infatuation with the fight game sprung from his days of playing Mike Tyson’s Punch Out on his Nintendo as a child.  This love of all things fight related was further bolstered upon a summer spent watching reruns of the Karate Kid.  Sean credits his love and dedication for the pseudo success he has attained and counts the moment he was elected into the Boxing Writers Association of America as the pinnacle of his writing career.  In addition to running North Texas Fisticuffs, Sean is also the managing editor for Cage Authority.

Ed Garza – A fixture ringside for some of the biggest fights in Texas, Ed brings an invaluable eye for talent and breath-taking pictures to North Texas Fisticuffs.  A long-time boxing insider, Ed has spent time in a number of capacities within the fight game, including fighter management and boxing promotions.  One of the most talented up-and-coming fight photojournalists in the game, Ed is truly a valued addition to this site.  Ed's fight pics can also been seen monthly in Undefeated Magazine.

Hector Sanchez – As the boxing editor for northtexasfisticuffs, Hector has been a boxing fan ever since Roberto “Manos De Piedra” Duran fought Sugar Ray Leonard back in the old days.  He has seen the best of Tommy “the Hitman” Hearns, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Alexis Arguello, Salvador Sanchez, Larry Holmes, Smokin Joe Frazier, the Greatest of All Time, Muhammad Ali, and most of the best fighters ever since.  Born and raised in Dallas, Texas and watching as many fights as he could watch on television, whether free or pay-per-view, he is now honored to be able to write and cover professional boxing live and at ringside.  Having written for several years and covering boxing in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, it is a dream come true for him.  He is also bringing his own boxing video show called “In the Ring” to the fight fans for exclusive interviews with the best boxers in Texas and around the nation.  Contact him at northtexasfisticuffs.com, This email address is being protected from spambots. Stacey Verbeek - Rapidly becoming a fixture at fights across the country, Stacey Verbeek is one of boxing's most talented photographers.  Stacey's work can be found regularly on the site, On The Beak where she captures teh blood, sweet, tears, and knockouts that make the Sweet Science such a great sport.  Additionally, Stacey's work has appeared in Boxing News, The Ring Online, Fight News, Boxingscene.com, and a host of other reputable websites and media outlets.  Stacey hails from the Maple Avenue Boxing Gym in Dallas and claims Manny Pacquiao as her favorite fighter.  She also is addicted to green tea and hopes to one day master the left hook.
