STANDING 8 READY TO BUILD FUTURE OF NORTH TEXAS BOXING

Texas businessman Dustin Haney has announced the formation of Standing 8 Promotions, LLC. Standing 8 is a professional boxing promotional entity targeted at developing the next generation of local fighters from the beginning to the World Championship level.
Standing 8 will come out of the gate strong by presenting the first 4 events over the next six months. Their inaugural event, "DFW Rising." will be held on August 11, 2012 at the Arlington Convention Center in Arlington, TX. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and first fight will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Main Event on the August 11th event will pit long-time Dallas based contender Jesse "the Dallas Kid" Lara (16-2) against undefeated prospect Gerardo "Tin Tin" Ibarra (12-0) of Houston. The undercard will feature 2008 Olympic Alternate and Irving resident, Hector "El Diamante" Vazquez (8-1), as well as the professional debut of amateur standout and World Series of Boxing contestant, Eric Fowler. Opponents for Vazquez and Fowler, as well as the remainder of the card, are to be announced.
Tickets are priced at $50.00 (Ringside) and $25.00 (General Admission). They can be purchased at http://www.standing8promotions.com/ or by calling 877-725-8849 or online at
Standing 8’s promotional philosophy is simple, according to Haney. "Our primary mission is to provide fan friendly matches that display highly competitive fights while presenting the events in an open environment that allows fans to interact with the boxers," he noted.
"Fans will also be given the opportunity to play "matchmaker" and will be called upon to vote for the fighters that they want to see again. As well as being fan friendly, our promotional company will always strive to be fighter friendly in giving athletes that may have not had the opportunity in the past."
The roots of Standing 8 Promotions, LLC. started when Haney walked into a boxing gym two years ago. "I was just looking for a new form of exercise for myself," he remembered. "But after quickly becoming immersed in the atmosphere and taking a liking to many of the fighters, I decided to support the local area boxers by financing two local events."
It was during this experience that Haney started to put his thoughts around the landscape of the local boxing scene in North Texas. "My goal is to return Boxing in North Texas to the glory days of the 1980’s when there were several top contenders, and multiple cards on a regular basis throughout the DFW Metroplex
